I’m Isaac Jackson, Lead Community Organizer and founding member of Urban Survivors Union’s SF Bay Area chapter (2013) Let a thousand blogs bloom. http://thedrugresistance.org is a blog that strives for a first person voice that happens to blog on drug policy and community organizing. Here I mix personal political theories with the world as it exists on all things related to the United States war on drugs, community organizing, and connections to other political and artistic movements. I started out as an art major undergraduate, so many years ago and ended my formal education with a doctorate in epistemology from a world class university you’ve probably heard about. Since then, I’ve been homeless; worked as a project manager for a Fortune 500 corporation; taught kids how to read and write and everything else as teacher in public schools; started a drug users union; spent countless hours talking to reporters, community groups, cops, politicians, and anyone else curious about why America continues the biggest policy debacle since institutional slavery. This blog doesn’t do much more than my first blog (blogging on drugs) tried to do back in the 1990’s. I blog in the style of the original intent of ‘web logs’: posting links to web posts and sites you ought to read. I’m trying to retain the open ended relationship between posting graphics and text that was so much fun using the original blogger software (push button publishing) before Google bought them and Netscape morphed into Mozilla and AOL mattered. Thank you, wordpress.com for allowing thedrugresistance.org park it’s tired ass on your servers for now. Shout out to Urban Survivors Union, People’s Harm Reduction Alliance, SF Drug Users Union, Tenderloin Health, city and county of San Francisco, all needle exchanges and others who practice harm reduction as organizations or as individuals that are friends, colleagues and comrades. Without you telling me you’ve read my blog a few times, I just wouldn’t be able to get it together to do this blog at all. Room to expand the quality of thedrugresistance for sure. Time will tell. Finally, let me know when something is factually inaccurate or inadvertently violates any copyright or trademark holder rights. Just remember that, like, five people will ever see it. So just think on your own time resources. I like accuracy so mistakes will be fixed as fast as possible. - first draft/ end of April 2020. - Isaac Jackson thedrugresistance@gmail.com View all posts by blogger
